Sundog Art Studios operates by appointment only. This ensures that every client and tattoo project receives dedicated time, care, and attention.

Sundog will confirm that your request was received. Jen will then review it based on the project, scope, scheduling needs, and the type of appointment time available.

No. Tattoo requests are not maintained as a chronological, first-come, first-served queue.

Because Jen’s availability is limited, projects are selected based on the tattoo idea, scope, placement, scheduling needs, and available appointment time. Submitting a request does not guarantee that an appointment will be offered.

You’ll receive an email confirming that Sundog received your request. We’ll review the information and contact you with an update, a question, a consultation invitation, or an appointment opportunity when appropriate.

If a specific opening is offered, please reply promptly. The same opening may be offered to other suitable clients, and it is not booked until you receive explicit confirmation from Sundog.

You may include Saturday in your availability, but Jen’s Saturday appointments are generally reserved for current clients continuing ongoing work and select larger-scale projects.

If Saturday is your only availability, Sundog may be unable to accommodate a small or single-session request.

Jen’s regular rate is $160 per hour, with a one-hour minimum charge of $160. The minimum applies even when a tattoo takes less than one hour to complete.

We do not provide firm tattoo quotes online. Depending on the information supplied, we may be able to provide a general ballpark estimate. Final time and cost depend on the completed design, size, detail, placement, skin, and how the tattoo progresses during the appointment.

Larger pieces, cover-ups, and multi-session projects may require a consultation before scheduling.

Yes. A non-refundable deposit of at least $50 is required when Sundog confirms a tattoo appointment. The deposit secures the appointment time and is applied toward the final cost of the tattoo.

If you need to reschedule, please contact us at least 48 hours before your appointment. A reply, request, consultation, or proposed opening does not constitute a booked appointment; the appointment is confirmed only after Sundog explicitly confirms it and any required deposit has been received.

We accept cash, major credit cards and debit cards, Venmo, CashApp and Wise.

Jen is a versatile custom tattoo artist in Lynchburg, Virginia, with extensive experience in color tattoos, fine-line work, black-and-grey tattoos, cover-ups, realism, and Japanese-inspired designs. She has also created many floral and botanical tattoos, animal and wildlife pieces, memorial tattoos, and other meaningful custom artwork.

Absolutely. Jen works with clients to develop original tattoo designs based on their ideas, references, placement, and overall vision.

Start by submitting a Tattoo Request with as much information as possible. Submitting a request allows Jen to review the project but does not guarantee an appointment.

Yes. Jen considers cover-ups, reworks, and refreshes depending on the existing tattoo and the proposed project.

Please submit a Tattoo Request with clear photographs of the existing tattoo and a description of what you would like to change. A consultation may be required before the project can be accepted or scheduled.

Yes. Reply to your confirmation email if your availability, contact information, tattoo idea, placement, or approximate size changes.

Significant changes may require Jen to review the project again. If you would like an entirely different tattoo, Sundog may ask you to submit a new request.

Sundog considers clients aged 16 and older. Anyone under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian present for both the consultation and tattoo appointment. Additional identification or consent requirements may apply.

Please ask Sundog before using any numbing cream. Do not apply an unapproved numbing product before arriving, as it may affect the skin or the tattooing process.

Arrive well-rested, hydrated, and having eaten a proper meal. Avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours before your appointment, and wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the tattoo area.

Do not stop or change any prescribed medication for a tattoo appointment unless instructed by your healthcare professional. If you take blood-thinning medication or have a medical condition that could affect bleeding or healing, consult your healthcare professional and let Sundog know before your appointment.

Proper tattoo aftercare is essential. We provide detailed tattoo aftercare instructions after your session. Generally, keep your tattoo clean, moisturized, and protected from direct sunlight and water immersion during healing.

Sundog Art Studios is licensed as a tattoo parlor through the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR), and Jen is a Virginia-licensed tattooer. We follow Virginia’s tattooing sanitation and safety requirements, including aseptic procedures, single-use needles and supplies, fresh gloves and protective barriers, proper sharps disposal, and thorough cleaning and disinfection of work areas and equipment between clients. Any reusable instruments are cleaned and sterilized as required. We also provide aftercare instructions to help support safe healing.
